Should I Add Green Updates to My Home?
This Earth Day, we’d like to talk about the environmental footprint of our favorite subject: your home. It’s no secret that homes take an environmental toll in terms of both construction and energy usage. Many homeowners are looking for ways to reduce their carbon footprint and save money in the process, and we have great news for you!
Did you know that the City of Ottawa will help you finance the installation of residential solar panels through their Better Homes Ottawa program? As an Ottawa homeowner, you can apply for a zero-interest loan of up to $125,000 or 10% of the current value of your home to cover the cost of energy efficiency improvements. And the program goes beyond solar panels too!
Wondering if your project is eligible? In addition to solar panels, the Better Homes Ottawa program also includes thermal envelope upgrades, mechanical systems such as thermostats, solar hot water systems, and air/ground source heat pumps, and electric vehicle chargers.
We have even more good news if you’re considering energy efficiency upgrades to your home: the Government of Canada’s Greener Homes Program provides up to $600 rebates for home energy evaluations and up to $5,000 rebates for energy-efficient upgrades like insulation, solar panels, heat pumps, and more. Between this grant and Ottawa’s zero-interest loan program, making your home more environmentally friendly is easier than ever.
If you’d like to discuss the value that energy efficiency upgrades can give your home, we’d be happy to help. Reach out to us at any time.
